I LOVE poker.
Many of you may not know this, but I played professionally in my early 20′s. And it’s helped me IMMENSELY in my marketing.
How so?
Let’s dive in.
Poker isn’t “gambling”, it’s a game of skill.
The entire goal of the game is to get your money in with an edge, even if it’s a tiny 10% edge, over time, those small edges create profit.
Marketing is the same way.
Picture this…
You have a product, and you know beforehand that there’s a 10% chance it could be worth 6-figures or more… And a 90% chance it’s going to be a total flop.
It’ll take maybe 1-2 weeks to put together, and a few hundred dollars to test out.
Let’s say you value your time at $1,000 a week, so total investment is around $2,200…
The product could be a total flop, but the time and money won’t be wasted…
When I lose a big hand in poker, it sticks with me. I remember how the opponent acted. I think about what I could have done differently. So even though I lose a big pot, if it’s a guy I play with on a regular basis, most of the time what I learn is FAR more valuable than that single hand of poker…
And the same is true in marketing…
Even if it’s a total flop, you’ll learn something. You’ll learn WHY it flopped, and what not to do in the future.
NO effort ever goes wasted. You WILL fail at times. But you’ll ALWAYS learn from it.
The only time you’ll really fail is when you just don’t try…
But you already knew that, didn’t ya?
Want to know one of the best ways to minimize your risk of failing?
